There are other attractions such as activities for kids, contests to win prizes.   The Open Market is hosted by the New Market Chamber of Commerce and is located in the SunTrust parking lot on South Congress Street. The Town of New Market presents its fourth annual Summer Music Series.  From 6:30pm to 9:00pm.  Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy an evening of local music.  A variety of food will be available (for purchase) and a beer and wine garden (for purchase).

July 3rd – SUMMER JAM, Massanutten Resort, McGaheysville, VA
This festival is the perfect summer festival for everyone.  From 5:00pm to 10:00pm.  Held at the base of the ski slopes, the Summer Jam features live music, a large dance area, local food trucks, beer & wine garden and along with your favorite festival foods, kids’ activities, one of the best fireworks shows in the region and even a few surprises here and there.  Fireworks at 10pm.  Plus ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE RH-SPCA!  www.massresort.com

The Shenandoah Valley Music Festival has been bringing great music to the Valley for more than 50 years. August 26TH thru. September 3RD - SHENANDOAH COUNTY FAIR, Fairgrounds, Woodstock, VA
The Shenandoah County Fair celebrating over 100 years.  Cole Amusements will open with as many as 26 rides on          Motorsports will be held over the first five days. Pick-Up Truck Drag Diesel Races return the first Friday night after a two-year hiatus. AMA Flat Track Motorcycle Racing.  Sunday will feature the Annual Truck & Tractor Pull. Then Sarge and Sons Demolition Derbies round out Motorsports events on Monday and Tuesday.   PERFORMERS:  9/1 Neal McCoy; 9/2 38 Special; 9/3 For King & Country.

September 10th – WoodsTACO, Woodstock. VA
If you love tacos, this is your event! WoodsTACO is our annual street taco competition that is unique to the Shenandoah Valley. From Noon to 4 pm.  Purchase your ticket to taste and cast your vote for your favorite taco teams and enjoy music and folklore dancers as well as adult beverages in historic downtown Woodstock. Only 200 tasting tickets sold so purchase yours in advance today! General admission is free and tacos will be available for purchase.

September 16th thru. September 18th – EDINBURG OLE’ TIME FESTIVAL, Edinburg, VA
On the third Friday of each September, this sleepy little town, nestled along US-11 (Exit 279 on I-81), comes alive with the festival of music, arts, crafts, parade, entertainment and great food. The best part of the Festival, though, is our people. Our theme is that of another time. September 24th – NEW MARKET FALL FESTIVAL, New Market, VA
9am to 4pm.  Come to New Market Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Festival located in historic Downtown New Market! Come enjoy pleasures crafted by local vendors, taste local food, and sing along and dance to local musicians! A fun day for all ages!

October 2nd - SHENANDOAH AUTUMNFEST - Fairgrounds,  Woodstock, VA   
11am to 5pm.  Come for the BBQ, stay for the 25+ craft brews and wine.  Kansas City Barbecue Society’s championship competition with more than 45 regional BBQ teams and a “Backyard” competition.  This day will be full of fun. October 8th – FALL FESTIVAL, Massanutten Resort, McGaheysville, VA

October 22nd - SPIRITS OF NEW MARKET, New Market Battlefield, New Market, VA
6 p.m. - 8 p.m.  Explore the battlefield after hours and step back in time with our annual lantern tour program, "Spirits of New Market," as we celebrate the indomitable spirit of those whose lives were impacted by the Battle of New Market. You'll follow your guide on a lantern-lit, tour of the Battlefield encountering living historians portraying the soldiers, townsfolk, and Bushong family. While interacting with the characters, you'll be able to lend aid to the wounded, ask questions and experience the Battlefield in a whole new way.  $10 per adult (ages 13 and older) $6 per youth (ages 6-12) Children 5 and under are free Each walking tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and covers approximately ½ mile over grass and gravel.  Tickets go on sale at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd. Tours begin at 6:30p.m. and depart the Virginia Museum of the Civil War every 15 minutes. American Celebration on Parade at Shenandoah Caverns turns into a 40,000 square foot haunted attraction on American Fright Night during weekends in October.   As if giant parade floats weren’t scary enough in the dark, be prepared for ghouls and goblins at every turn! Sample wines from 14 Virginia wineries while enjoying food and craft vendors at the 12th annual Shenandoah Uncorked wine festival.   This popular event is held in American Celebration on Parade at Shenandoah Caverns. All wineries and craft vendors are located inside. Food trucks available outside with indoor and outdoor eating areas.   10 AM to 5 PM; $       per person advance ticket purchase; $      at the door.   Includes a commemorative tasting glass.
